Listening to others, and being listened to, appears to be the only way to bridge political divides. The shaming, blaming, polarizing rhetoric of most political discourse is only entrenching all of us more deeply into our own opinions. We recycle the same ideas within the same social media feeds commented upon by the same people. We remain polarized and siloed. Nothing changes. People get angrier, more afraid, more dismayed and we perpetuate what we most long to change.
